Restaurants and retail

Guest Wi-Fi that works, cameras over the register, and the card terminals on their own network.

A restaurant or shop needs three things from its technology. Wi-Fi that does not drop during the rush, cameras the owner can check from home, and card payments kept away from everything else. We build all three on gear you own.

What shops and restaurants need

Keeping payment terminals on a network separate from guest Wi-Fi and the office computers is the standard way to shrink what the card industry security rules, PCI DSS, apply to, and it is the first thing we set up. Guests get their own Wi-Fi that reaches the patio. The point of sale and the terminals get theirs. The office computer and the cameras get theirs.

Cameras over the register, the back door, and the stockroom are the second request, and the difference from a typical camera company is that our cameras have no monthly subscription. The recorder is in your building and the footage is yours.

What we put in place

In plain words, and written down so you can show it.

  1. Guest Wi-Fi sized for the room and the patio

Business-grade access points, separate from everything else.

  2. Card terminals and POS on their own network

Kept apart from guests and the office computers.

  3. Cameras over the register, back door, and stockroom

Live view and playback from your phone, no subscription.

  4. A badge door for the office or stockroom

    Who went in, and when.

  5. The office computer backed up and updated

Payroll and ordering do not live on one aging laptop.

How we usually help

Pick one project or let us look after all of it every month.

Who we fit, and who we don't

Honest on purpose, so nobody wastes a call.

We fit

  • Single location restaurants, cafes, salons, and shops
  • Owners who want to check the shop from home
  • Businesses that are tired of camera subscriptions

We don't fit

  • Locations run by a corporate IT department, unless that department wants defined local work
  • Point of sale software support. We set up the network it runs on, your POS vendor supports the software.

Questions owners ask

Can you make the Wi-Fi reach the patio?

Yes. An outdoor rated access point placed for the patio is a normal part of the design.

Do you install the point of sale system?

We build the network it runs on and keep it separate from guests and cameras. The POS vendor installs and supports the software.

How many cameras does a restaurant need?

Most start with 4 to 6. Register, back door, stockroom, dining room, and the parking lot. 4 cameras from $3,200 installed, 6 from $4,500.

What does it cost?

Wi-Fi and network from $2,500 plus hardware, cameras from $3,200 installed, and a badge door from $1,800. Optional monthly care for cameras is $20 per camera, $60 minimum per site. See the pricing page.
